HOW TO UNDERSTAND HOW LEAD GENERATION FUNNELS WORK

When it comes to successful digital marketing, posting to social media alone, won’t cut it. Yep! I said it. Creating a lead generation funnel (LGF) is where it’s at. But unfortunately, this is something that is very often overlooked by business owners. A proper LGF will help you to streamline your entire conversion process – from clicks to cash baby!

To break it down, lead generation is the start of the interaction process with your potential customers. The funnel part is what these leads go through to *hopefully* convert into paying customers. So, if you are looking to make more dough, then generating more leads for your business should be at the very core of your marketing strategy. Your goal should ultimately be to exchange an email address for something of larger value, like a lead magnet!

I wrote a blog post on lead magnets not too long ago, so check it out here if you haven’t already. Of course, the best LGFs are tailored to your biz, but an example of one would look something like this:

TOP OF FUNNEL (Let’s call it TOFU)

  • General traffic from advertising, WOM, blog posts, website, socials, etc.
  • Offer a lead magnet e.g. templates, how-to guides, checklists, etc.
  • Send them to a landing page
  • Ask them to opt-in with their email address
  • Re-direct them to a thank you page with social sharing buttons
  • Link the opt-in form with your mailing list provider
  • Create a sequence of emails to nurture your relationship

BOTTOM OF FUNNEL (Let’s call it BOFU)

When (not if), your leads finally choose to buy from you or become your client, it’s important you keep nurturing that relationship. Ensure they stay happy by providing them with constant support.

The ultimate goal here is to ensure that they remain loyal to your business! Because, if you keep them happy, they may even attract more leads entering the top of your funnel!
